Mister Finch Hanging Toadstool Workshop. Sunday 3rd December 2023
Why not join me for the day making textile toadstools!
Please note this is a workshop and not a download or PDF or anything like that..this is a place at my workshop with people!
Wander down a beautiful winding cobbled lane and you will find the oldest working building in Stafford. Within its historic Tudor walls and heavy beams, I am going to be teaching small intimate sewing classes.
The workroom is wonderfully cozy and filled with fantastical objects from my travels. Everything you need for a day of stitching hanging fungus is provided. I will show you how I put everything together. Share my tips on creating textures, frills and the famous fairy tale
It will be a fun day of playing around with different shapes and techniques. One where you are very welcome to bring any precious fabrics or small objects you would like to include on your piece. I want you to go home refreshed and full of ideas with a finished piece...and maybe new friends...how fab would that be? I feel very lucky in that my workshops attract brilliant people and teaching is always such a pleasure to share with you.
I have been wanting to create this kind of workshop for what seems forever. Being able to have everything I want down to the exact tea trolley, is wonderful for me and I have had such a great time organizing it all.
Your creative item can be scaled up or down and with the skills learnt on the day. You can make small ones for a Christmas tree or mobiles up to large ones, which would look amazing on bookshelves or on table settings. They lend themselves beautifully throughout the seasons.
Hot drinks and biscuits are provided and you are welcome to bring your own lunch or sample one of the many cafes and bars which are all a stones throw from my workshop.
Indeed everything is very local with the train station being only five minutes walk away and so are a few great hotels if you are wanting to stay over.
The building is heavily listed and so unfortunately the toilet is situated on the second floor up some stairs. I want to be able to include everyone and this is something I'm working towards but with it being so old, it's very tricky.
Stafford itself has some lovely sights. If you are walking from the train station you can cut through the park which is just gorgeous especially when the seasons get warmer. Weeping willows trail in swan filled rivers and the air is filled with swooping swallows...cobbled streets..Tudor buildings and plenty of lovely places to eat and drink.
Workshop places are £120 per person.
10 Church Lane
Hotel wise very close by is 'The Swan'.
Located a few minutes walk from where I will be teaching from it features dreamy interiors and beautifully decorated zones and rooms which are perfect for any occasion.
A few more minutes walk from here is 'The Vine'
Cozy and traditional with lovely rooms..it's one of my faves and they make you feel really at home. Perfect.
For a more glitzy affair for dinner and drinks you have 'The Post House'
This place is fantastic and the service and interiors are stunning..it's a real treat and I can't think of a finer place to sip cocktails and marvel at how they have kept the original interiors and welcomed chandeliers and giraffes on board...the staircase alone makes you feel like a millionaire.
For parking there are few to choose form but this is very near to where I work from.
Riverside Undercroft Car Park.
Just a quick note...this workshop is for making a hanging toadstool...please don't come to a workshop and ask to make a life size badger or a huge jumping rabbit or a panda...I know I shouldn't have to say this but its happened a few times...many thanks.
